A Spring Wreath for a New House

They say necessity is the mother of invention, but I think that necessity is the mother of creativity. In packing I've found scraps of this and that, things that needed to be used up or thrown away, and since my situation necessitated a new wreath, I had to be creative.

I had an 18" wreath from the dollar store, that I used for the base of this project. I wrapped it with what was left of tan yarn leftover from a long-forgotten crochet project.

Since I didn't have enough yarn, I used leftover burlap from a lampshade project to cover the rest of the wreath. I wadded and folded it until it looked nice, then sewed it in place.

Now it's time for flowers. I don't fancy myself any kind of flower maker, but I do recall some elementary project during which we cut felt into flowers. Basically, I just cut the sharp edges off of a square of felt, then cut it into a spiral.

After wrapping my spiral up into a circle, I have a few cute, brightly colored flowers with a button center. I also cut a few leaf shapes from green felt to make it look more Springy.

Now we have a welcoming door wreath for our new neighbors.
